2 No-Brainer Ways to Reduce EMFs Around You

Everyone Else is Doing It!
When cigarette smoking was considered safe, almost everyone was doing it. People’s exposure to second-hand smoke was therefore much greater.
Then people started talking about the harmful effects of cigarette smoking, and there was resistance. People didn’t believe it and might have been heard saying, “It won’t make a difference if I stop – everyone else is doing it.”
I heard that very remark come from a colleague once while discussing WIFI and the harmful effects it can have on one’s health, especially children’s.
There is plenty of evidence that EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies – an umbrella term used these days to encompass all types of frequencies, like dirty electricity, microwave, radio frequencies, etc.), including WIFI and cell phone radiation, are harmful to health. Symptoms include sleep disturbances, restless legs syndrome, headaches and migraines, irritability, memory loss, and more. In fact, it can change your DNA!
Now say you live in a 10-storey apartment building. The building might have about five apartments on each floor. All of them have WIFI on, 24 hours a day.
That’s 50 WIFI boxes blasting through your apartment… you see the connections when you connect to a network for the first time, right?
Plus, if there are at least two cell phones per apartment, you can add 100 cell phones picking up and sending signals to and fro (right through your body).
Thankfully, there are doctors in Canada and around the world who are concerned about the negative health effects from the EMFs. These frequencies come from a lot of sources but let’s talk about cell phones for a second.
A “Connected” Culture
It has become our culture to constantly be in contact with whoever has our phone number, our social media profiles, and our email addresses. It is clear that you will need your phone sometimes, especially if you’re in business or are travelling.
However, if we as people are going to get serious about reducing harmful exposure to EMFs, then we have to start doing something, and we don’t have to wait to be told by any governments or policy-makers.
While it may seem like things are out of your control, they are not, and some solutions are so simple you can call them no-brainers.
You can implement these and make an impact right now. Here are two of them.
No-Brainer #1 – Turn Off Your Cell Phone
It’s so simple it seems ridiculous, right?
It’s true, this no-brainer is the easiest way to reduce your exposure to cell phone radiation frequencies.
At the same time, it’s difficult for the above reason – that we are so used to (and addicted to) using this tech, so here’s an easy way to master this:
Think of all the times when you don’t actually need your phone, or when you don’t want to be disturbed, or when you shouldn’t use your phone. Sit and think carefully about this so that you can choose the right option(s) for you. Those times could be:
- while you’re driving
- when you’re sleeping
- while you’re making love
- when you’re studying or focused on a project or task to be done (it could be as simple as cleaning out the dreaded hallway closet), and if the someone calls, voicemail will get it, and if a text comes in, it can wait. It really can!
- while swimming, playing, or spending time outside with the kids or the dog (do you really need to be reading the news or tweeting while walking the dog??)
Choose the easiest one and stick to it. If you like to make hands free phone calls while you drive, then choose something else, something that won’t stress you out.
Once you’ve made your choice and have begun doing it, you’ll feel freed up and liberated for other things.
In addition to your easiest option, turning your phone (and WIFI) off at night is imperative! See below.
ALTERNATIVE: An alternative to turning your phone off is to put in on airplane mode, but your phone will still give off some frequencies while powered up, so it’s best to turn it off.
Or, hey, get a landline! Get an old-school see-through phone to make things interesting… remember those?
No-Brainer #2 – Turn Off Your WIFI – Especially at Night!
This no-brainer takes slightly more brain since you may have never turned the WIFI off. It’s likely that your internet company, upon installation, turned it on for you and it’s been on ever since.
The easiest thing to do is to just unplug it. This works great if you’ve got teenagers who you want to ensure are not online past bedtime.
It’s a little trickier if you’ve got housemates. If you absolutely must use WIFI in the house, one thing to do would be to have the rule: Last person to bed unplugs it, first person up plugs it in. However, this could result in some conflict with people forgetting or for people who work nights.
Therefore, the solution to this is to use Ethernet cables. Take a look at this video on how easy it is to make your home healthier by using wires instead of WIFI.
Think you can’t make a difference? Think again of the cumulative health benefits we will all gain once we eliminate the wireless in our homes.
Instead of the plethora of EMFs running through your bedroom at night, you could be sleeping peacefully, restoratively, and wake-up rejuvenated as you ought to.
