Forcing Me Into Presence

It was either 2014 or 2015 and I was in my bedroom, having one of those days when I was facing my possible demise. I recall being in so much pain that I tried to tell myself to take it just one day at a time.
One day at a time. I’d heard the phrase lots before, but one day just seemed too long. I didn’t know if I could take one more day. 24 more hours of this pain? No way. Maybe I should just die.
So, I decided to do one hour at a time. Interesting idea! I thought. I would put on my watch on those days so that I could remember to look at it, and so I started counting that first hour.
An hour later, I looked at my watch. I’d made it!

Okay, I did one hour. I’ll do one more.
And so I did another and made it through. I did this every day that a day felt too long.
In the meantime, after reading some of Christianne Northrup’s book Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom, in which women were talking to their uteruses and ovaries, I decided to talk to at least one body part per day in a loving way for at least five minutes.
It sounds silly, but it went something like this: Hello left arm. You’re beautiful. You’re wonderful. You’re so useful because you can do a lot. I tend to use the right more but without you, the right would be lost. You’re beautiful. I love you. You’re great. You’re wonderful. (Is that five minutes yet?). Phew, done.
And so, with my current issues with my own uterus and ovaries (a fibroid and cysts), I wonder what would happen if I apply that technique to these body parts. As this is the second chakra, maybe there’s a stagnation of creativity.
What would happen if I talked to my pelvis every day and took up a creative activity?
Just remember that if you find it hard to take things one day at a time, try one hour at a time. I believe that this method forced me to be present with myself and that’s part of what healed me before.
Do you think I can do it again?
